Advanced Financial Investigation and Forfeiture Case Development
A forfeiture case development course that turns a financial investigation into strong restraint and forfeiture applications, from case theory to filing.
Course overview
Investigators often trace money successfully and still lose the recovery case. The reasons are familiar: evidence gathered for the criminal charge but not for forfeiture, gaps between what was traced and what was restrained, and applications drafted under time pressure. This forfeiture case development course shows experienced investigators how to run a financial investigation with the recovery application in mind from the first day.
The course follows a single investigation from referral to filing. Participants build a case theory that covers both the conduct and the property, use production orders and other powers to obtain financial records, and reconstruct fund flows from accounts, mobile money and company books. They then link each asset to the conduct, decide what to restrain and when, and assemble the evidence bundle that a prosecutor needs. Close working with prosecutors is practised throughout, including joint case conferences and review of draft affidavits.
Participants leave able to plan and manage investigations that produce well-evidenced, timely restraint and forfeiture applications.
