Lifestyle Audits, Wealth Declarations and Unexplained Wealth Investigations
Lifestyle audit training for integrity and anti-corruption officers: verify wealth declarations, audit lifestyles and refer unexplained wealth for action.
Course overview
Lifestyle audits and wealth declaration systems have become central to the fight against public sector corruption in Kenya and across the region. Yet declarations are often filed and never checked, and lifestyle audits are announced but rarely completed to a standard that leads to action. This lifestyle audit training gives integrity and anti-corruption officers a practical method for doing both well.
Participants learn how wealth declaration regimes work, how to select declarations for verification using risk criteria, and how to check declared income, assets and liabilities against land, company, vehicle, tax and bank records. They then carry out a structured lifestyle audit: gathering evidence of spending and asset use, comparing lifestyle with legitimate means, interviewing the officer, and documenting findings. The course explains the link between lifestyle audits and unexplained wealth proceedings, so that findings can be referred for investigation or recovery. A full lifestyle audit of a fictional procurement officer runs through the week.
Participants leave able to verify declarations and run lifestyle audits that produce credible findings and lead to action.
