Management of Seized Operating Businesses, Shareholdings and Going Concerns
A management of seized businesses course on keeping restrained companies running, protecting jobs and value, and preparing them for sale or return.
Course overview
When the state restrains a hotel, a transport company or a farm, it inherits staff, customers, suppliers, tax obligations and day-to-day decisions. Shut the business and value collapses; run it badly and the state may face claims for losses. This management of seized businesses course prepares asset managers and appointed managers to take control of operating businesses responsibly.
Participants learn the legal basis for appointing managers and receivers, the first-hundred-hours tasks after taking control, and how to establish financial and operational oversight. They study managing employees, contracts, banking, tax and regulatory compliance, and how to stop the original owners from continuing to influence the business. The course then covers monitoring performance, deciding whether to continue trading, restructuring and preparing for sale or return to the owner if the case fails. Case studies include a transport company, a hotel and a group of shareholdings in listed and unlisted companies.
Participants leave able to take control of seized businesses, preserve their value and report credibly to courts and agencies.
