Internal Audit and Assurance of Asset Recovery and Asset Management Functions
An asset recovery internal audit course on auditing tracing, seizure, custody, disposal and recovered funds to give boards real assurance.
Course overview
Asset recovery agencies handle sensitive cases, valuable property and large sums of money, which makes them a priority for internal audit. Yet many internal auditors have never been taught how recovery operations work or where their risks lie. This asset recovery internal audit course gives auditors the specialised knowledge to plan and deliver assurance over the whole recovery chain.
Participants learn the recovery lifecycle from intelligence and tracing through restraint, custody, forfeiture, disposal and use of funds, and map the risks at each stage: case selection bias, leakage of sensitive information, weak exhibit handling, valuation manipulation, disposal fraud and misuse of recovered funds. They then design risk-based audit plans and programmes, test controls through case file reviews, physical verification and data analytics, and assess the governance of case decisions without interfering in prosecutorial independence. Reporting to audit committees and agency heads completes the week.
Participants leave able to give independent, risk-focused assurance over asset recovery and asset management functions.
