Credit Control and Debt Management
Credit control training on assessing customers, setting credit terms, collecting debts firmly and fairly, and protecting cash flow.
Course overview
Late payment is one of the biggest threats to cash flow for businesses, SACCOs, utilities and public bodies across the region. Poor credit decisions and weak collection practices tie up cash that organisations need to operate. This credit control training gives credit and finance staff a structured approach to granting credit wisely and collecting what is owed.
Participants learn to set credit policies, assess customer creditworthiness using financial statements, credit reference bureau reports and trade references, and decide credit limits and terms. They then study the collection cycle: invoicing, reminders, telephone collection techniques, negotiation of payment plans, and escalation to debt collectors and legal action within the law. The course covers measuring credit performance through ageing analysis and days sales outstanding, provisioning for bad debts, and managing disputes. Role plays and case studies draw on realistic regional customer situations.
Participants leave able to make sound credit decisions, collect debts more effectively and improve cash flow.
