Purchasing and Procurement Management
A procurement management course on planning purchases, sourcing suppliers, negotiating, managing contracts and getting value for money.
Course overview
Procurement often accounts for the largest share of an organisation's spending after salaries, and weak purchasing practices leak money through poor specifications, limited competition and unmanaged suppliers. This procurement management course gives purchasing staff and managers the skills to buy well, fairly and efficiently.
Participants learn the procurement cycle and how purchasing supports organisational strategy, then practise planning procurement, defining needs and writing specifications. They study sourcing strategies, market analysis, supplier selection and evaluation, and negotiation techniques, followed by contract formation, supplier relationship and performance management, and partnerships. The course covers ethics and integrity, total cost of ownership, sustainable procurement and the use of e-procurement tools. Examples come from both public and private organisations in the region, with attention to the public procurement law where it applies.
Participants leave able to manage purchasing more strategically, build better supplier relationships and achieve better value for money from every purchase.
