Results-Based Monitoring and Evaluation for Public and Donor-Funded Programmes
A 10-day results-based monitoring and evaluation course on building M&E systems, mobile data collection, evaluation and reporting for programmes.
Course overview
Governments and development partners increasingly fund programmes on the basis of results, not activities. That puts pressure on programme teams to show what changed, for whom and why. Many still rely on activity reports and scattered spreadsheets. This results-based monitoring and evaluation course equips teams to build M&E systems that produce credible evidence and support better decisions.
The first week builds the system: results-based management, theories of change and logical frameworks, indicators and targets, baselines, M&E plans and budgets, data collection methods, and mobile data collection with tools such as ODK and KoboToolbox. The second week covers analysis and use: data quality assurance, quantitative and qualitative analysis, evaluation types and designs, managing evaluations, reporting results to governments and donors, learning and adaptive management, and the national M&E frameworks used in the region. Participants build an M&E plan for a real programme and practise collecting and analysing field data on their phones and laptops.
Participants leave able to design and run results-based M&E systems that satisfy funders and improve programmes.
