Leadership in Public Sector Governance
A public sector leadership course on leading in government: accountability, service delivery, devolution, stakeholders and public value.
Course overview
Leading in the public sector brings challenges that private sector models do not fully address: political oversight, constitutional accountability, public participation, devolved government, rigid rules and intense public scrutiny. This public sector leadership course helps public servants lead effectively within that environment and deliver results citizens can see.
Participants examine public sector governance frameworks, including constitutional principles, separation of powers, devolution and the roles of oversight institutions. They explore what public value means and how leaders create it, then work on practical leadership skills: managing relationships with political leaders, engaging citizens and stakeholders, leading performance and service delivery, managing resources under constraints, and maintaining integrity. Innovation and digital government receive attention as tools for better services. Participants analyse public sector leadership cases from national and county governments and leave with a personal leadership action plan.
Participants leave able to lead with greater confidence and impact in the public sector, and to deliver results that citizens notice.
