Strategic Leadership and Strategic Management for Executives
A 10-day strategic management course for executives: analyse the environment, make strategic choices, execute strategy and measure results.
Course overview
Many organisations produce strategic plans that are approved, printed and then ignored. The gap lies in both the quality of strategic thinking and the discipline of execution. This strategic management course equips executives with tools to develop sharper strategies and to lead their implementation through to results.
The first week covers strategy development: strategic thinking, analysing the external environment and industry, assessing internal capabilities, defining purpose and competitive position, generating and evaluating strategic options, and scenario planning for uncertainty. The second week covers execution: translating strategy into objectives and initiatives, aligning structure, budgets and people, balanced scorecards and performance management, leading strategic change, monitoring and adjusting strategy, and communicating strategy across the organisation. Examples are drawn from public bodies, state corporations, banks and companies in the region. Participants apply each tool to their own organisation and leave with a strategy and execution framework.
Participants leave able to lead strategy development and execution that delivers measurable results.
