Records Management
A records management course on creating, classifying, storing, retrieving and disposing of records in line with law and ISO standards.
Course overview
Good records protect organisations: they support decisions, prove what was done, satisfy auditors and courts and preserve institutional memory. Poor records cost time, invite fraud and lose cases. Many public and private bodies in the region still struggle with overflowing registries, missing files and no clear rules on what to keep or destroy. This records management course gives records staff and administrators a sound, standards-based approach.
Participants learn the principles of records management and the records lifecycle, the legal framework including archives, access to information and data protection laws, and the international standards such as ISO 15489 and the ISO 30300 series. They practise developing file plans and classification schemes, registry procedures, storage and security, retention and disposal schedules, and handling vital and confidential records. The course also introduces the move to digital records and the basics of a records management system. Practical work includes reorganising a sample registry and drafting a retention schedule.
Participants leave able to organise records systematically, meet legal obligations and support efficient, accountable operations.
